Magic Codex and Combat Playtest

•April 10, 2010 • Leave a Comment

The new magic codex is now on the site. This supercedes the spell list on the rules page.

The combat playtest linear that will take place in the summer is going to be called The Swords of Thorns and will take place on the Northern Ashthernan border almost immediately after The Eyes of Ages event in the timeline.

General Update

So there hasn’t been an update in a while but things have been moving here.

I currently working on the full rules set for the game starting with a major overhaul of the magic system which is looking good. Some favourites from the play test are there along with some fun new stuff.

I got some helpful feedback at event 0 and this is being incorperated into the new rules set.

So you want to know when the next game is right?

At the moment I’m aiming to run a linear play test in the summer. I’m aiming for early August but will confirm that nearer the time. I will need volunteers to play and monster that linear but again I’ll explain that nearer the time.

As for Event 1 proper – I’m aiming for early 2011 *fingers crossed*

Anyway those of you heading to Maelstrom – have fun
Those of you who aren’t – Happy Easter – don’t eat too much chocolate!!

Event 0 Aftermath

The Eyes of Ages is dead. The City of Garanesh has fallen to shadow spirits and undead. A small band of survivors made up of a Fae, a Beastkin, a Sharn and two Humans have escaped with a dark tale of the prophecy and the Lord of Nightmares and the Queen of the Undead that now hold this city.

In the east The Cannon errupts with such force that a section of the Unbreachable Wall has split and cracked. In the western oceans a violent storm blackens the sky. Along the northern border of Ashthernan an army of fae, wearing the colours of the Winter Queen, have gathered and prepare to march on Karzack. The Orgaroshan armies of Orcs and Sharn have furthered their attack in Greyspire.

The Ashthernan Triad, The Winter Queen and The Archmage Council of Greyspire have agreed to set aside their differences for the time being and have called a council to plan their next moves. Only time will tell what fate befalls the Kingdoms of Destiny.

A big big thank you to everyone that came along to the event playing or crewing. I will be continuing to run events in the system after some more development and rules revision and a couple more test games. I’m hoping to run a weekend event early in 2011.

Event 0 – The Eyes of Ages

Signs and Portents…
To some it is meaningless superstitions
To others it is the whirling compass of fate pointing the course of destiny
But one thing is certain, when the Eyes speaks of Signs and Portents,
Then man and orc and elf and troll – the very world stops.
And they listen.

~ Kuma Andar Lessurine, Kozue Elder

The Endless Plains is an agreed neutral zone between the different kingdoms, they are warded by mysterious dragon-decended beings known as the Dracokith. Their leader is an aging prophetess known as The Eyes of Ages. She sleeps in the web of fate and awakens when times of greatness fall upon the world. The characters will be aware of her awakening and have travelled to the Temple of Endless Eyes in the centre of the plains to hear the prophecies revealled…and perhaps carry out some of their own agendas while there.

Eyes of Ages is a one day fantasy LARP event. It will be mainly freeform with some plot and very rules light at this time. It will be run on 6th February as part of Conflagration 2010, Glasgow University Gaming Societies awesome gaming convention.

Welcome to Kingdoms of Destiny LARP

The Hundred Years Peace, the time of prosperity among the five kingdoms, is beginning to crumble. In the distant black sands of Orgarosh, the orcs grow restless and once more the tribes rally under the banner of war. In the mage kingdom of Greyspire, magic is becoming harder to tap and control. Those without the spark of gift are being declared diseased and are being hunted and killed. The forest kingdom of Ashthernan is dying of a land blight and is being aggressively forested on all sides. The Dwarves invention of Skyships and other contraptions in the high mountains of Kazarack has been viewed as an aggressive threat to all. Not least the Fae, who have had their home in Silver Realm, an island floating in the mists above the world, discovered and accessible by the mortal folk. Diplomacy is breaking down and the old hatreds are flaring.

Now in the Endless Plains the Eyes of Ages, the ancient Dracokith prophetess, has awoken from the Vision Dreams with the signs of a new age dawning. And every king, knight, bard and adventurer wants to be there at this moment. The moment when the five kingdoms, become the Kingdoms of Destiny.

Kingdoms of Destiny is a high fantasy Live Action Role Play game starting in Glasgow in February 2010. Please have a look around for more info about the game and setting.
